11am: Cork Butter Museum
Discover the commercial, social, and domestic life of Ireland through the story of the internationally important Butter Exchange in the 19th century Cork, the traditional craft of home butter making and the modern success of the Kerrygold brand. Peter Foynes, Museum Director, will take you on a personal tour of this fascinating story sharing his insights and passion along the way.
1pm: The English Market
Described by Chef Rick Stein as "the best covered market in the UK and Ireland", The English Market awaits, bursting with delightful goodies from traditional Cork fare to exciting new foods from afar, along with long standing family-run stalls and newcomers from outside. Discover a sense of place through taste upstairs at The Farmgate Cafe where you will enjoy a producers late offering a selection of samples from many of the stalls you just visited.
3.30pm: Award Winning Gardens Tours
You then head for a 40-minute drive to Ballymaloe Cookery School where you will enjoy a personal guided tour around their award winning vegetable gardens and impressive one-acre wide glasshouses which are bursting full of every kind of fruit and vegetable imaginable to get a taste of what they do here at Ballymaloe Cookery School.
